200th Anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens

This week sees the 200th birth day anniversary of one of our greatest writers of all time! Charles Dickens has written 15 novels which have never been out of print since their first publication in the 1800’s.

His ability to capture the essence of each character and draw the reader in has inspired many other writers over the years. A more modern writer of television media Paul Abbott is no exception and refers to the way in which Charles Dickens wrote about the social scene of his time. Paul Abbott is the man behind the successful series ‘Shameless’ which looks in a humorous way at the inhabitants of a rough Manchester council estate.
