A Dramatic Exchange

Yesterday the GCSE and A Level Drama pupils went to Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre to see a production of Jim Cartwright’s modern classic ‘Two’ and to participate in a workshop about the play. After a rather eventful journey, the pupils had the amazing opportunity to interview the set designer, Amanda Stoodley, and one of the play’s two actors, Victoria Elliott. Amelia Woodruff and Oliver Turbitt were also lucky enough to be chosen to perform an extract of the script on the stage, under the direction of the Exchange’s Education Officer. The play gives an honest insight into the northern working class and the two actors portrayed a variety of different characters, each with their own moving, comic or inspirational story. All the pupils really enjoyed the play and are looking forward to their next trip, to Buxton Opera House, after half term.
