The Stepping Stones at Dovedale with Years 3&4

Year 3&4 spent the afternoon at Dovedale where they were given the task of taking photographs of the river and valley, with their iPads. They will be making sketches of their photographs and painting them, once we have had a look at our featured artist, Monet.

Our geography topic this half term is all about rivers so we were able to talk about the features that the River Dove had on our walk alongside it, including terms such as meanders, valley and flooding areas. We also had a look at some of the sedimentary rocks as part of our science topic and had a look for fossils. Some of the children found some of the sedimentary layers in their rocks and some even found some fossils.

We were very fortunate with the weather and the children took some beautiful photographs of the area.
