Fuimos a Espana

30.04.12

During the final week of the Easter holidays a group of Year 9 and 10 pupils travelled to southern Spain to enjoy a variety of cultural and sporting activities. Our destination was Lo Pagán, a small town on the coast, about 30km from the city of Murcia.

We stayed in a bi-lingual school and each morning pupils got the chance to improve their Spanish with a lesson. Our trip was accompanied by a guide called Carolina who encouraged the pupils to use as much Spanish as they could through games and activities.

During the week pupils followed a packed programme, which included a drumming workshop, film night, windsurfing, sea kayaking and sailing. We had visits to the zoo, the roman town of Cartagena and the city of Murcia. Highlights of the visit included singing karaoke and a mud bath in the salty waters of the Mar Menor.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the visit and more importantly increased in confidence in speaking Spanish. We hope to visit Spain again during the Easter break in 2014.
