The overseas students were treated to a night out at our local Chinese restaurant. The mini-bus picked us up as soon as assignment time finished and we drove into Uttoxeter, to ‘Mr Woo’s’.
There was a real cross-section of our wonderfully diverse school community with a mix of seven nationalities from Year 6 to Year 13 around the table. The atmosphere was relaxed and the buzz of chatter and laughter only slowed when the parade of aromatic dishes became too much for us. The spicy spare ribs and the Kung-po king prawns were voted best dishes of the evening but there really was something for everyone, from hot lamb with vegetables and lemon chicken to Malay sizzling beef and duck in black bean sauce, with so many other tastes in between.
The students were all dropped off at their boarding houses, replete and ready to sleep.
