Martin Handley, one of the relay team of torch bearers for
the Olympic Games, visited the Prep School this morning to talk about his experience
and answer lots of questions!
Martin was chosen to carry the torch through Ashbourne on
Friday 29 June because of his outstanding fundraising efforts for
the Air Ambulance. The children were all able to have a chance at holding the
torch whilst Martin explained that it has 8000 holes, the gas only lasted for
12 minutes, it is made of brass, and he received his torch on the day and that
he gets to keep it, among many other questions.
This was the last Chapel of the school year for the Prep School,
so this was an added excitement for the day.
