Year 7 Camps were based at a site on the shores of Lake Windermere. The advance party went on the Monday to set up camp and the rest followed on the next day.
Once everybody had arrived at the campsite we were split into three groups; green, red and blue, each group having a different activity to do; mountain biking, orienteering or kayaking. After we had completed the activities on the first afternoon, we had a fun but energetic scavenger hunt. One task was to hit an armed teacher with a tennis ball! Mr Ritchie and Arizona were armed however with water bottles and tried to get us as wet as possible and they succeeded! At the end of the game the teachers counted up the points and the blue team won due to the amount of feathers they had collected. Before bed we all had hot chocolate with cream and biscuits.
The next day we woke up knowing we had a massive hike up a mountain to the ‘Old Man of Coniston’. Before we went on the hike we were again split up into three seperate groups, one went rock scrambling up the mountain and the other two walked up via a different route. When we reached the top we were inside a big cloud and had to put on all our warm clothes. We then came down to a big lake and had a rest. We walked back to camp via a village where we were able to buy sweets and get updated on the football. That evening after tea, we went to Low Wray Castle which was very near the campsite and Miss Coonan told us a ghost story which set our imaginations going and on alert for monsters about the camp that night!
On Thursday we got back into our colour groups and did a different activity to the one we have done on the first day. On the last day, we packed up very quickly and played a massive game of rounders which was super fun. We thought the best part was the mountain biking and kayaking but everyone had different opinions and overall it was a super week.
