Round Square

Abbotsholme is a member of the Round Square, a world wide association of schools which share a commitment to personal development and responsibility through service, challenge, adventure and international understanding as part of a fundamental objective - the full and individual development of every pupil into a whole person. This commitment is very much reflected in life at Abbotsholme both within the curriculum and beyond the classroom.

Our membership offers numerous exchange opportunities enabling pupils to experience other languages and cultures for periods up to three months. We regularly welcome overseas pupils of various nationalities to Abbotsholme, recognising the importance of fostering global relationships and respecting the diversity of culture, religion and language throughout the world. Service Projects are also organised to countries all over the world. These have previously taken pupils as far afield as Africa, India and Thailand, in order to help the under-privileged residents of villages there by installing clean water systems and building school accommodation with facilities for the disabled.

Switzerland is very proud of it’s heritage as a confederation since the 1290’s and it’s modern tradit...

The event is designed to be arduous and the pupils were risen early on...

This week years 5 and 6 have had the chance to sample some typical French food. As we are learning French this term we thought it would be fun to try some crêpes. We had a choice of fillings, jam, chocolate spread, chopped bananas and cream. We liked all of the flavours but the out and out favourite was chocolate spread with banana and a big squirt of cream. Delicieux!

Costa Rica April 2010

On Saturday 3rd April, 7 students and I left Abbotsholme to embark upon a Round Square service project to Costa Rica. Upon our arrival at Durika, we were made to feel very welcome and were struck by the beauty of our surroundings. We were given a tour of the community which gave us all...
