Abbotsholme Pupils Make Sausages

At Abbotsholme School pupils have been helping to rear three Gloucester old spot pigs under the supervision of pupil farm manager Greg Roberts, a Sixth Former. The pigs are going to be made into sausages for a huge barbecue on the last day of the summer term and the remainder of them will be used in the school canteen.

Farm Manager Bridget Jackson made arrangements to take some pupils to make sausages with the meat from the school pigs, to local butchers TG Sargeant & Sons of Bramshall. Joanne Sargeant from the butchers helpfully taught the pupils the fine art of sausage making and then twisting them into
sausage links. The pupils who gained this experience were Greg Roberts, Antonia Bernau, Kyle Bradbury and Edward Hibbert. They all really enjoyed it and were amazed when Joanne told us there was about 4,500 sausages to take back to the school!
