After two fixtures had been lost to the weather, this was the U13’s first match of the season. They lost the game, but it so very nearly resulted in a thriller.
Abbotsholme lost the toss and scored a rather paltry 33 all out with four of their 20 overs remaining. They took the field with a positive approach and were ready to give their best shot, and with the opposition 0 for 1, and 8 for 3, it looked like they just might be an upset. Captain, Henry Sanderson and Adam Wright bowled tightly, as did their supporting bowlers of Max Winbow and Charles James. At 24 for 6 and the wickets spread around, it still looked like they might still sneak a victory, but a couple of loose deliveries and some ‘extras’ allowed Denstone to ‘limp over the line’ in what was a thoroughly entertaining match.”
