Junior Maths Challenge 2016

28.04.16

Students at Abbotsholme today sat the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. Over 250,000 students who excel in Maths from across the UK sat the paper with roughly the top 6% of entrants nationally receiving a gold certificate, the next 13% receiving silver and the next 21% bronze. In recent years Abbotsholme has had considerable success in these challenges and we have high hopes for this cohort.

The Junior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and aimed at the most able students up to Year 8. A sample question from last year’s Junior Maths Challenge is below

1. A fish weighs the total of 2 kg plus a third of its own weight. What is the weight of the fish in kg?

A   2 1/3      B   3      C   4      D   6      E   8
