Hockey

Abbotsholme School is proud to support its pupils competing in hockey at junior national and county levels, as well as those of varying skill level.

Our young hockey players enjoy a training programme dedicated to enhancing their hockey skills, along with expert coaching and a series of competitive fixtures to test their abilities.

At Abbotsholme School, pupils can compete in hockey matches against other schools on Wednesday afternoons, while those not in a squad can play during games and enrichment multiple times a week. Our young hockey players train and compete on the school’s AstroTurf, as well as having access to our indoor sports hall, where hockey sessions are open to everyone.

Coaching

Our hockey players train multiple times a week during the autumn and spring terms, alongside competing in fixtures against local schools. Hockey training at Abbotsholme School takes place on our state-of-the-art AstroTurf, a leading facility recognised across the Midlands and regularly used by other schools and clubs as their preferred training venue.

Pupils train in structured group sessions led by experienced coaching staff, with a strong focus on skill development, teamwork and match play. This comprehensive programme supports players of all abilities, helping them to progress and enjoy the game in a high-quality training environment.

Pathways

Abbotsholme School maintains strong links with Staffordshire County, where many of our pupils play hockey outside of school. Our dedication to the sport and exceptional coaching creates outstanding opportunities for aspiring hockey players, with many of our pupils progressing to represent the county.
