Senior School
Pastoral support is of paramount importance, ensuring that pupils feel happy, engaged, and confident in all aspects of their school life, socially and academically.
The transition to Senior School for pupils moving up from our Prep School is a truly significant milestone in their Abbotsholme journey. Those joining us from other schools can feel reassured by our culture of friendliness, cooperation, and support from both pupils and staff.
In the classroom, on the sports field, in the art studio, amidst many outdoor pursuits, on the farm, or on the stage, every pupil has the chance to explore their talents and discover where they can shine. We celebrate each pupil’s unique strengths, empowering them to be the best possible version of themselves. Our dedicated teaching staff inspire a love of learning and nurtures inquisitive minds of our Senior pupils.

Social Development
Character development is a fundamental aspect of life in the Senior School. Our Senior pupils are encouraged to embrace and embody the school’s core values—honesty, humility, courage, integrity, and respect—in their daily lives. This moral foundation is integral to their academic, creative, cultural, and social growth, shaping them into mature, independent individuals prepared for the next chapter beyond Abbotsholme.

We recognise that each child is unique and that their rates of progress will vary and differ. Curriculum
The Senior School curriculum is comprehensive and tailored to the belief that, at Abbotsholme School, one size does not fit all. With a wide range of interests and talents among our pupils, we introduce valuable variety as academic demands grow. Intellectual stimulus applied through our individualised ‘Stretch & Challenge’ programme ensures that pupils’ development is allowed to flourish and progress beyond examination level.
Many organised trips associated with the curriculum reinforce the theory that the best learning progress is achieved through stimulation and experience, and contribute to an enjoyable and memorable education for our Senior pupils.
In Year 10, pupils begin making important subject choices for their GCSEs. We offer an excellent range of options, and with careful guidance, support, and tuition, we help each pupil reach their full potential at exam time, ensuring that doors remain open for future decisions relating to education and careers.
