Sixth Form
A ‘community within a community’, the Sixth Form is full of wonderful characters: individuals of gravitas, humour, intellect, sporting and artistic prowess, who each leave their mark at Abbotsholme School.
Our Sixth Form pupils serve as role models within our school, exemplifying Abbotsholme's core values in both their academic pursuits and social interactions. Our Sixth Form pupils are responsible for setting the standard in attitude, appearance, and commitment, helping to ensure that Abbotsholme remains a welcoming and supportive environment for all pupils. Our community is diverse, dynamic, and inclusive, where everyone is warmly welcomed.
At Abbotsholme Sixth Form, our promise is to develop well-rounded, responsible individuals who celebrate the success of others as much as their own. This ethos is central to everything we do. With a range of outstanding extra-curricular activities on offer – from competitive sports to beekeeping, climbing, and other outdoor pursuits – there is something for everyone to explore and become passionate about. These experiences not only inspire personal growth but also strengthen essential skills like communication, teamwork, leadership, risk-taking, planning and determination – key attributes for future success.
At Abbotsholme School, small class sizes remain a key feature, extending through to the Sixth Form. We believe small class sizes are essential for providing regular, personalised feedback that enhances pupils understanding, analysis, evaluation and decision making. This approach lays the foundation for strong performance, whether they choose to pursue employment, apprenticeships or university.
Sixth Form pupils enjoy the greater independence and self-reliance that helps bridge the transition into adulthood. Located next to the main school building, the Sixth Form Centre provides a dedicated space for our A Level pupils.
Curriculum in Sixth Form
Our Sixth Form offers a broad range of subjects, from BTEC qualifications in Sport, Agriculture and Performing Arts to traditional A Levels in Maths and Science. In addition to a range of A Levels and BTECs, every pupil can undertake an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) in a subject of their choosing, either to complement their studies, or perhaps something entirely new.
Our small class sizes in Sixth Form ensure that pupils are provided with regular, personalised feedback that enhances pupil’s understanding, analysis, evaluation and decision making. This approach lays the foundation for strong performance, whether they choose to pursue employment, apprenticeships or university.

Careers and their futures
Success in the Sixth Form can be measured by many different outcomes – not only by strong academic results, with most pupils gaining admission to their first-choice universities, but also through opportunities to explore diverse courses and career paths.
Year 12 and 13 pupils are given personalised support to discuss their ideas, with dedicated time and activities to help them to identify what truly motivates them and brings them happiness. We believe this approach gives our pupils the best possible chance of securing fulfilling and successful careers that align with their strengths and passions.
