Prep School Curriculum
We provide a rich and dynamic curriculum for our Prep School pupils, with lessons initially delivered by a dedicated team of Prep School teachers. As pupils progress and reach Year 3, specialist subject teaching increases to include Performing Arts, Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), PE and Games, Outdoor Education and Music all conducted in dedicated spaces such as the theatre, Sports Hall, and the wider estate. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 also have the opportunity to explore science in the laboratories with senior teachers.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), children follow a curriculum which focuses on child-initiated learning both indoors and outdoors, making full use of our extensive grounds. Prep School is centrally located within our campus, just a stone’s throw away from the woodland area known as the Dingle, an ideal setting for Forest School. Outdoor learning and extra-curricular such as Forest School, farming and equestrian help develop Prep pupils into confident, independent learners with inquisitive minds and a passion or exploration and discovery.
Academic progress is closely monitored through termly assessments in reading and mathematics. Our Prep School teachers provide parents with regular updates in progress reports during the autumn and spring term, along with a comprehensive end of year report in the summer. Prep pupils who require additional support receive tailored tasks to consolidate key skills, with some participating in learning development lessons in small groups. Gifted pupils are offered stretch and challenge tasks in their lessons.
Parents are kept informed weekly through our online learning tool, Seesaw, which provides updates on what has been taught and details about upcoming events.
