Originally hailing from Wakefield in the heart of Yorkshire, Mrs Thornton arrived at Abbotsholme School in September 2017, with her husband Nick, and two kittens, Vivienne and Ralph. Today, Mrs Thornton is delighted to work alongside 'such wonderful, dedicated staff and hardworking pupils' in her role as Headmistress.

"I am the Headmistress of Abbotsholme School and oversee the strategic vision for the school and ensure Quality Assurance in each aspect of the curriculum. I also work with the pastoral teams to provide the very best support for each of our pupils. Alongside a brilliant team of staff at Abbotsholme School, I unreservedly uphold the strategic goal of providing excellent teaching and high quality education. Teaching and Learning is at the core of school life and I am excited to see students develop as enquirers, critical thinkers and essentially ‘loving their learning’. Maximising the potential of each individual and to celebrate their successes is what we do best at Abbotsholme and I am very proud to be part of this process".
