Sixth Form Poets Published in National Anthology

Although this success took place earlier in the year, it feels especially fitting to celebrate it in this month’s news as we continue to mark World Book Day and our wider focus on literacy at Abbotsholme.
We are proud to recognise Abby and Molly, two of our Sixth Form pupils whose poetry was published in the Empowerment anthology as part of the Young Writers Poetry Competition. Both students have entered multiple Young Writers competitions, consistently demonstrating creativity, commitment and a willingness to share their voices beyond the classroom.
We are particularly delighted to highlight that Abby was named competition winner - an outstanding achievement that reflects both her originality and the strength of her writing.
At Abbotsholme, literacy extends far beyond the curriculum. From Nursery through to Sixth Form, we strive to cultivate an environment where pupils feel confident to express themselves - creatively, critically and authentically. Successes such as these reflect the culture of encouragement and intellectual curiosity that underpins our whole-school approach.
As we celebrate the joy of reading this month, we also celebrate the power of writing - and the inspiring young writers within our own community.
