Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in sending your child to Abbotsholme School.  

Abbotsholme pupils demonstrate enthusiasm, integrity, commitment, care for their peers, and for their environment. We value qualities beyond academic achievements and seek individuals who will make positive contributions to our community.

When selecting a school for your child, having comprehensive information is crucial to making an informed decision that ensures your child’s happiness, setting a solid foundation for their future and education. Our admissions team have refined the admissions process and remain readily available to help every step of the way.  

Entrance Assessments 

From Year 7, we request that all pupils sit a CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) assessment, solely for setting purposes. The CAT4 assessment is designed to help teachers understand the developed abilities of each child, in areas known to make a difference to learning and achievements.  

Offer of a Place 

We encourage all prospective pupils and their families to visit Abbotsholme School for a tour. Our school is so unique, it is impossible to describe the atmosphere – you have to feel it to believe it! For international pupils, our Registrar and Headmistress will arrange an online meeting to get to know the pupil before proceeding with the admissions process. We also offer Taster Days, which offer prospective pupils the independence to explore our school, during a ‘normal’ school day.  

Our admissions team will request a birth certificate, a school report, and completion of a registration form. Following these steps, our team will assess whether Abbotsholme School aligns with the child and family's needs before extending a formal offer of a place at our school. 

Acceptance of a place 

Upon accepting an offer from our admissions team, we kindly request confirmation by signing an acceptance form and returning it along with a deposit. Before a new pupil’s journey at Abbotsholme School begins, our admissions team will dispatch our comprehensive ‘Welcome Pack’, containing relevant details about enrolment. We request that the Welcome Pack is signed and returned prior to the child’s first day with us.
