Small Independent School of the Year 2024
We were over the moon to be announced as a finalist for Small Independent School of the Year - a title that reflects the ethos of Abbotsholme, celebrating our small but strong community, of which we are incredibly proud.
The size of our school plays a significant role in shaping its identity – we are a small school with a big heart. Our close-knit community offers pupils and staff a strong sense of togetherness and belonging, something we are proud to have been recognised for. Being named a finalist alongside five other exceptional small schools for this award means so much to who we are as a school. Our size is our strength, and we will always embrace it.
As a school small, we embody the principle that “every child is not just taught, but known”. This principle goes beyond the classroom and our teachers take pride in knowing their pupils, enabling them to provide a tailored education. Being a small school also means that we must work harder to create opportunities for our pupils, and we are very fortunate to have staff members that will always go the extra mile to provide exceptional experiences.
Being a small school instils a strong sense of community among our pupils - a community they are the foundation of. Our pupils are what make us exceptional, and the way they interact with one another is truly inspiring. Our size means you’ll often see senior pupils engaging with prep pupils, or a mix of year groups participating in enrichment activities together. We are able to do this as we are a small school that aims to reinforce the idea of inclusivity and unity within our community.
Our pupils, teachers, boarding parents, support staff, catering and domestic teams, grounds team and every individual who makes our small but strong community stand out are all proud to have been named a finalist for Small Independent School of the Year. Though we are a small school, our heart, spirit, and ambition have never been greater.
Congratulations to all those shortlisted, the finalists, and of course, the winners of the Independent School of the Year Awards 2024.
