ABBOTSHOLME IS A MEMBER OF ROUND SQUARE, AND ONE OF ONLY 15 SCHOOLS IN THE UK

Round Square is a worldwide association of schools which share a commitment to personal development and responsibility through the six pillars of Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service as part of a fundamental objective - the full and individual development of every pupil into a whole person. This commitment is reflected in life at Abbotsholme - both within the curriculum and beyond the classroom.

Our membership offers numerous benefits including exchange opportunities enabling pupils to experience other languages and cultures for periods up to three months. In recent years pupils have travelled to Australia and Peru. Each term we welcome overseas pupils to Abbotsholme, recognising the importance of fostering global relationships and respecting the diversity of culture, religion and language throughout the world. Most recently we have welcomed pupils from Australia, South Africa, Canada, India and Germany. Regular opportunities exist within Europe for pupils to take part in mini-conferences and annually sixth formers are invited to take part in the International Conference, which takes place on a different continent each autumn. Most recently these have taken place in South Africa, Switzerland and India. Sixth formers also have the opportunity to take part in Big Build Projects at Christmas and in the summer. These have taken pupils as far afield as Africa, India and Thailand. Typical objectives are helping local residents by installing clean water systems and building school accommodation with facilities for the disabled. Within school we are committed to fundraising and we run a Round Square Café, by pupils for pupils. Funds raised are used to pay the school fees of a pupil in Nairobi, Kenya and to contribute to the Round Square Discovery Fund, which purchases the building materials for Big Build projects.
